I see alot of information on Canada. Just out of curiosity, is anyone set up(or know of anyone set up) in the Bahamas?

One of the mailing services listed Nassau as did one of the proxy servers. A friend of mine has an account in the Bahamas, but he's had it set up for years. I asked him to do me a favor and call his banker and ask if US citizens can set up accounts.

Has anyone done this or know anyone that's done this recently? Also, the more I'm reading the more I see the account should NOT be set up in US dollars(I believe that has to "clear" in the US thus causing the problem?). Would most lean towards Euros? What are you Canucks using? How bout the Brits?

Thanks

I can tell you from the personal experience me and my father went through. My father has a large amount down there and due to pressure from the US, the bank was no longer allowing him to make trades and buy things like stocks, trusts, bonds, something notes(I dont remember name of note things) and he was really upset. Because the bahamas doesnt let the US see american citizens money in their banks, so it cannot be taxed so the US gets really pissed off. So they put some pressure on the government and they had suspended those types of trades. However he was still able to deposit money for just savings. This was 6 months ago so I do not know how things have progressed. Hope that helps some
